Esteemed Stakeholders,
Balıkesir University Edremit Vocational School was
established in 1994 by the decision of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK)
and started its activities in the 1994-1995 academic year in order to meet the
need for qualified intermediate staff in various fields of the industry. Our Electrical
Program is located under the Department of Electricity and Energy, and as an
associate degree program that accepts students with TYT score type, it aims to
raise competent individuals who will contribute to the energy and electricity
sector of our country. This program has adopted an educational approach that
blends theoretical knowledge with practical application, in harmony with the
dynamic structure of Edremit Bay. Our aim is not only to provide diplomas, but
also to prepare our students for the real needs of the sector and to equip them
with skills that will make them stand out in global competition.
Our understanding of education is based on
contemporary educational principles and a student-centered approach. Our
program is shaped according to the standards set by YÖK and has a curriculum of
120 ECTS credits in total. Our courses cover a wide range of topics, starting
from basic electrical-electronic principles to electrical installation, energy
systems, automation and renewable energy sources. By supporting our theoretical
courses with laboratory studies and field applications, we enable students to
transform abstract concepts into concrete experiences. This approach encourages
students to transform from passive learners to active participants; Because we
see education not as a process of knowledge transfer, but as a journey focused
on individual development and problem solving.
Our student-centered approach is evident at every
stage of our program. As Edremit Vocational School, we have strengthened our
consultancy system by taking into account the individual needs of our students.
Academic advisors assigned to each student provide guidance on career planning,
internship opportunities and personal development. In addition, the 3+1
Vocational Training in Business model, which has been successfully implemented
in our program, is one of the most concrete indicators of our understanding of
applied education. Thanks to this model, our students spend a significant part
of their education period directly in the sector, gaining professional
experience, learning business discipline on-site, and increasing their
employment opportunities after graduation. These practices, carried out within
the framework of university-sector cooperation, both strengthen the professional
competencies of our students and contribute to the training of qualified human
resources for regional development.
Within the scope of the "Alumni Network"
project that we started as of 2026, we organize online meetings with our former
graduates and conduct mentoring programs. For example, the alumni meeting held
on February 11, 2026 was held with more than 50 participants via the BAUNMEET
platform and offered the opportunity to share current trends in the industry.
These events strengthen our students not only academically but also in terms of
social and professional networks.
ur academic vision and goals are based on
sustainability and innovation. As the Electricity Program, we have a vision of
contributing to our country's energy transformation goals. Our goals include
increasing the rate of renewable energy-focused education to 50% by 2030,
increasing the employment rate in the sector to over 85% and training certified
graduates at international standards. This vision is compatible with the general
strategic plan of Balıkesir University and reflects the corporate identity of
Edremit Vocational School: Being a "Qualified Intermediate Personnel
Training Center". Our program prepares students for the technologies of
the future with course content compatible with Industry 4.0 (automation, PLC
programming, smart grids). Additionally, we strengthen our vision by supporting
the continuous development of our academic staff. Our faculty members regularly
attend national and international seminars and integrate this knowledge into
the curriculum.
Our national and international collaborations enable
our program to develop within a wide framework. Seminars and joint training
programs are organized at the national level within the scope of the
"Technological and Scientific Cooperation Protocol" signed with the
Chamber of Electrical Engineers (EMO). Three projects were carried out with
GMKA between 2014 and 2019, and these collaborations were integrated with
Edremit District Governorate, Chamber of Commerce, İŞKUR and municipalities.
For example, GMKA's "Vocational Education Development" programs
provided 75-90% financing for our infrastructure improvements. In addition,
peer evaluations and joint projects are carried out with other universities (for
example, Tavşanlı Vocational School and Altınoluk Vocational School). The peer
evaluation between Edremit Vocational School and Balıkesir Vocational School
held in 2026 strengthened our accreditation processes. Internationally, we
cooperate with energy institutions in Europe through Erasmus+ programs. These
collaborations offer our students international internship opportunities and
will gain a global perspective. For example, contacts were established with
German and Italian universities for renewable energy workshops. This framework
reinforces our corporate identity as "collaboration-oriented" and
educates our students at international standards.
As a result, Edremit Vocational School Electrical
Program offers an informative and inclusive education approach, integrating
student-oriented approaches with its academic vision, and a constantly
developing structure through research and collaborations. We invite you, our
